After over 5 years, the project will be shut down for good.

It was originally initiated by DoctorJ ( QUACK ) a real doctor ( QUACK ) whom started this after Coaster Madness disappeared virtually overnight. DoctorJ who also does brilliant coding as well or at least is said to, never really did anything but hand off the project to others to code. In essence he asked many to make a project he named that he did nothing or little for other than initiate the GDD.

Sadly the new lead coder Duckblaster has bowed out and at this point after over 5 years, I am making a decision to put a stop to this madness. As a park builder I have waited like you for a very long time. While certain dev groups really worked hard at this, the coder dev group became a revolving door of egos for the most part and chaos that DoctorJ ( QUACK!!! ) should have really done since he is a bigtime coder and started this ( QUACK ) ...

So please refrain from posting. I am going to shut this down but leave the forums in a read only state so for a while the collective ideas can be copied and saved by any new group that should try and create a new game. The repository resources shall remain open to the public for downloading for one week only from today then the repository shall be removed. Thanks again everyone and this is for the best. It is not happening.

First the Disneyland Monorails, People Movers and finally suspended monorails too, including dark ride suspended which we will discuss with dark ride track in the dark ride subforums.

Okay now smaller monorail tracks.

Perfect example. The monorail cars are smaller bu the flat track is actually wider then the original bigger monorails...go figure huh.

The Smaller monorail track actually is almost easier because it is a flat slab with textured alpha and bump map on it as to where the larger monorail requires more intricate modeling.

Now lets look at the suspended monorail track.

My Resignation

No, it's not as serious as the title implicates, but it's still serious.

I am resigning from my posts as Technical Coordinator and Wild West theme coordinator.

I am not giving up my admin position, nor am I quitting on the project. I want to make this very clear, so I'm going to write it again and bold it.

I am not giving up my admin position, nor am I leaving the project.

This has nothing to do with recent progress, or lack of it thereof, nor does it have anything to with any of the members on the project.

The real problem is that I've just lost my fandom for this game. When I joined, this project was very different. There were different people involved, different relationships, and different game design theories. This was a project being built for a different crowd. As the years have gone by, I've been part of a few members who were around in the before times, in the long, long ago who have stayed. I have seen the project change for the better, and go through some rough patches. Through all of this, I have seen the members here to be incredibly resilient, and I don't believe for a second that this game will fail. However, increasingly, I feel like I'm part of the minority when it comes to game design. The focus for this game has changed. Before it was more of a design program, meant to be used to build your dreams to exacting specs, and gameplay was optional. Now the ratio has flipped, and people want a game now, not a CAD application. Now, normally, I wouldn't mind alternating opinions, and other's opinions are the best way to challenge your own to make them stronger, but as a lead on this project who represents the group when it comes to decision, I feel like I'm in an awkward place, like a minority president. A lead should have opinions that resonate with the people he represents and that sadly, is not me, so I'm using this resignation as a way to get me into a more comfortable position to make this the game that I want to make it.

So what now?

I still plan on being around a lot. I will still meet in chats, and post in the forums. I hope I can still retain my admin position and help people out, but as far as the game goes, I will be much more in the background. I will let the people who are currently making this game make it how they want to make it, but I'm planning on making mods in coordination with the coders. The mods will be my own projects, and will be an attempt to bring back some of the old principles from the Cook and AC era, for a minority audience. In this way I feel that everyone's interests can be fulfilled. I'm excited for whatever comes out of the rest of the team, and I can't wait to play it in Alpha!

(please be advised these are my observations, I'm just sharing my opinions)

I am aware of the state of the coding in the game. It's been 5 years and no coding. People are still around, obviously there are a lot of us who want this game to come out. Over the years I have seen people come and go and come back. Slick has been the moderator of this site since the beginning, I'd mention all the previous people, but that is a long list. Everyone has been a great asset to the TPB3D community.

My main reason for writing this is to ask. Should there be funding for the main coder(s) of this project? Would that be the incentive to get things moving in the right direction? You can have everything the models, the sound, etc. but without code it's nothing. I found this website that is just for video game funding. (see below) We have to decide what our coding budget is (how much do you want to pay each coder) If it's two coders I think it should be split 50/50. and so on.

Since this site is famous for polls. I propose a poll to fund the coders or not to fund the coders. And before I finish, the only reason I mention coders ONLY is because, That is the base of every computer program, EVERY. Without coding I wouldn't be typing this. You wouldn't have a modeling program or a sound recording program, even this forum. No matter what you use Linux, Mac, or Windows, etc. Everything needs to be coded.
Thank you for reading this.
